Our full-time Games Development course is one year long, focusing on the casual games market. Students will be exposed to programming in C#, game theory and development techniques with Unity 3D, as well as work with the latest Virtual Reality technology by developing games compatible with the Oculus Rift.Course content includes:

  • Learning to code from scratch (no previous experience necessary)
  • Fundamentals of game programming, such as AI, physics, etc
  • Importing and optimization of game assets/animations
  • Basic mathematics principles, including geometry
  • Storytelling techniques in games
  • Game design in terms of good and bad practices
  • Game Development following the Oculus VR standards

After finishing this course, you will have a complete understanding of the different steps required to make a game.

That involves:

  • Intimate knowledge of game design principles
  • The know-how of how to create your own games from scratch and the entire process involved
  • The process of getting your game onto the market place
  • Developing a playable game to be presented at the rAge expo in October.
This course is ideal for students who have completed any multimedia/Wed development course, with or without experience with programming and/or scripting. We encourage artists who already know 2D or 3D animation to join us and see for themselves how programming is possible to anyone!

Werner Scaife has been teaching game design/development since 2011 and has a major passion for games and how they are made. He started programming after college, and quickly found his way around C#, not looking back since.

He is constantly up-to-date with the latest developments in the gaming industry, having attended the 2013 Games Development Conference in San Francisco. You can meet Werner at the rAge expo every year.

The costs for this full-time course is R 65 000.00 excluding VAT. This fee covers all course expenses including books, student licenses and other training material.Because we feel it is important for you to know where we are, and what we are doing, we kindly ask you to come for a personal interview (preferably with a parent or guardian), bringing the following information:

  • Matric certificate/grade 12 or equivalent
  • 1 Passport photograph
  • A one page statement of intent, describing in your own words why you wish to pursue a career in the digital animation industry and why you would find yourself a suitable candidate.
  • A creative portfolio for review
